14 weeks & 4 days
Okay....so I am behind once again! As everyone can see I skipped 13 weeks. So today's blog will briefly cover 13 weeks...then on to 14 weeks....and also Mike's 36th birthday!
So the big developements for week 13 were that the baby formed fingerprints on the tiny fingertips and that the body size is starting to catch up with the head. At 13 weeks the baby is almost 3 inches long and weighs nearly an ounce....pretty small huh??!! =)
Week 14.....first of all....I am so thankful that I have made it to week 14. I am now officially in my second trimester! YIPPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!! This week big developements: The baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his/her thumb! The baby is now about 3 1/2 inches long and weighs 1 1/2 ounces! For us...it is so exciting to read these new developements every week in our baby book. It is just amazing to think that all these changes are going on in my body. What a blessing.
Now on to my old man...literally! HAHA. Mike....aka...my papa bear....turned 36 on Feb. 3rd. To celebrate his birthday we went to Weatherford and all of his family joined us there. It was a great weekend. Mike got to spend time with his brothers, parents, and one of his cousins. On Friday night Mike and his brothers went to shoot pool for a little bit while the girls went out to eat for dinner. It was nice letting the guys have their own time while us girls got to catch up a bit. We all met back up later that night and played poker and then headed off to sleep about 3:00 am. Man... 3 am use to be nothing for me.....but this pregnant lady was exhausted! I think I fell alseep BEFORE my head even hit the pillow! =)
The next day we all got up and went to our nephew Cokey's wrestling tournament for a little while. I still can't get over how much our nephews have grown up. Both Aaron and Cokey are becomeing such wonderful young men. That afternoon most of the guys (Adam & Cokey had to stay at the tournament) went fishing for a little bit and from what I can tell they had a BLAST. Mike said they didn't get much fishing done...but they did enjoy joking around and acting like they were kids again. I heard him mention more than once about how much he enjoyed himself! Later that evening we all ended up going to the casino for a little while. Mike enjoys gambling and that is one of the things he wanted to do for his birthday! By the time we got home and got into bed....I believe it was around 3 am again. Very long day...but well worth it.
On Sunday I got up and Adam and I cooked some breakfast for everyone. After that Nino started BBQing and I got to cooking. Nino made ribs, fajitas, chicken, and sausage. John Boy ( mike's cousin) made the rice, and I made the refried beans, mashed potatoes, cake, cookies, brownies, and a couple of dips. By the time it was all said and done I was exhausted. The food was wonderful...but I was on my feet way to much. We all then watched the Super Bowl and relaxed. We ended up staying that night and headed back to Lufkin on Monday. Mike had a really great time for his birthday. He loves spending time with his family and I want to thank everyone for making an effort to be there for him. I also want to thank Adam & Yolie for allowing us to use their house for the weekend. Mike and I really appreciate it!
That's it for now. I still need to post pictures....so please be patient. =)
